Anasys AFM-IR Workshop

Tuesday Nov 4th 2014, University of Manchester

Meet the inventor of AFM-IR at a workshop at the University of Manchester School of Materials, organised by Blue Scientific.

The event will include presentations from leading researchers in the field of AFM-based nano IR measurements, including the inventor of the AFM-IR technique, Dr. Alex Dazzi of the Université Paris-Sud. Attendees will have the opportunity to see live demonstrations using an Anasys AFM-IR system and are encouraged to bring along samples for analysis during the day.

Presentations will cover applications in polymer science, composite materials, biological applications, plasmonics and many more.

Speakers:

  • Alex Dazzi, University Paris Sud
  • Kevin Kjoller, Anasys Instruments
  • BasudevLahiri, University of Glasgow
  • Suzanne Morsch, University of Manchester

About AFM-IR
AFM-IR analysis delivers both infrared spectra and mapping capabilities with nanoscale resolution. The method illuminates the sample with pulses of infrared radiation. The tip of an AFM detects the absorbed radiation, producing rich, interpretable IR spectra, which can be directly matched to existing bulk IR data libraries. AFM-IR is rapidly becoming the method of choice for nanoscale chemical identification in materials research and development. Unlike other SPM-based techniques such as Raman (TERS), AFM-IR offers an easy to use, robust method for determining surface chemistry.
